Trance on vinyl

Trance came out of Germany in the early nineties, with Frankfurt at its centre, and you can recognise it by its long melodies, arpeggios and the big breakdown before the kick returns, at 130 to 140 BPM. By the end of the decade it had moved to the Netherlands and the UK and filled dancefloors around the world. Here you will find it on the original 12" maxi, with its B-side remixes.

Trance: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between trance and progressive trance?

Progressive trance builds more slowly: layers that come in bit by bit and less euphoria at the climax. 90s and 2000s trance goes more directly to the melody and the breakdown.

Why buy trance on vinyl?

Because many remixes from those years were only released on 12" maxi and never made it to digital. And because that is how it was played: by hand, riding the pitch.
